Should we bother ?

Given that the earth is temporary and dying (2 Peter 3:10,12) and the curse of sin means that both man and creation groan with labour pains (Romans 8:22) ............ Should we or can we do anything to change things ?
Come on Friday to find out.

I really enjoyed the discussion we had. It was interesting to note how peoples views about global warming can be quite skeptical. Most people don't trust politicians despite the apparent honesty of their message.
It would be interesting to watch the alternative programme "global warming conspiracy" watched by some to get a "balanced" view

But we are called to be good stewards of the planet God handed over to us to use or abuse has we wish. So shouldn't we, even if the global warming conspiracy is nonsense, do our best to preserve what resourse we have available to us. Switch of those lights, use the car less, save energy, 'have a bath with a friend'

Why waste what God has given us.

For some Christians the problem can be a feeling that "well God is going to destroy the earth and make a new heavens and earth - so why worry?"

But there are lots of problems with this, chiefly the correct scriptural view is not one of total destruction but renewal. Many thing will be carried forward into the age to come, which will still be very much a physical existence.
And if Christ's 2nd Coming is far in the future, what legacy are we leaving to future generations? The call to love your neighbour extends to those we will never meet who will come after us.
