Our God Is Bigger

The theme in Exodus so far seems to be God's revelation of himself as the only true God - a case of "our God is bigger than your god"
This seems very primitive - as though God is showing off?
Is that what is really happening?
PS: Click on the picture to get the idea....sort of...

But really the "gods of the Egyptians and others were not really gods in the sense of a divine creator thus God did not need to prove he was bigger or show off. He did need to show the various people that he was in overall charge whether they liked it or not. It was primitive - remember this was early iron age and man was relatively primitive at that time and thus understanding things might seem more primitive to us in the 21st century.

As the biblical story unfolds and time moves on the understanding of God changes and becomes more like our own present day: very much need to see the narrative in the context of the days when it was written.

Looking forward to being back with you all tomorrow after a couple of weeks away. Trust you are all well.

Looks like you have left Egypt behind but still there are problems!
