So.. how was it having a Friday Night back in church. Anyone who was there want to tell us all about the experience? And did you enjoy the film? Was it faithful to the Bible? Us the comments section below to let us know!

Did seem somewhat strange being back in the church - although it did allow me to check the pigeon hole! Also easier to hear.
The film: a few deviations from the original storyline.
I think a few bits got compressed to keep the overall length down but some of the main differences I noted were:
a) the killing of an Egyptian in the opening sequence (I had forgotten we had not had any credits by the time they showed up) seemed to being slightly different. There was no killing an Egyptian one day and then trying to resolve dispute the next between two Israelites.......
b) the bit about midwives not being quick enough was not there - straight to slaughter of all male offspring
c)I thought Pharoah got drowned in the Red Sea - not left on the shore to watch it all!
However I would not wish to be unduly critical. No doubt we could find other differences in the tale. Generally it was faithful to the basic story line and there were some good points too.
I thought some of the depictions of the various plagues got the point home well - espcially those loathsome boils!
I also like the crossing the Red Sea - no mere swampy Sea of Reeds - a full blown sea with impressively piled up waters each side. To have crossed a seabed like that would be awesome!
I think it is useful to have a different way of looking at the overall story and as such the film was a useful summary of what we have looked at and what is still to come.
I shall be interested in any other comments that can be posted as I will be unable to be with you this coming Friday.
I really enjoyed the film. I thought it was very contemporary (spent most of the film trying to work out who the famous voiceovers were!)
Yes, there were deviations but overall remained true to the spirit of the story. Seeing the film brings home the enormity of the events.
I read an article on sky news this week about a Hebrew scholar who thinks the Israelites were all on hullucanogenic (sic) drugs when Moses came down from the mountain!
