- while that is true in a wider sense, the Bible is quite specific that one aspect of becoming a Christian is that we are adopted into God's family. I would not want this to seem like an attempt to be exlusive - the great thing about the gospel is that it is opne to all. But as John says: "To those who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become God's children..."
It's worth reading the whole of John 1 to get that fully in context.
