The end of the beginning

Derek will be leading the service this week to bring an end to our stories from Genesis.
As we reflect on the past few weeks of story telling and debate, what have we learned ?

For me, the Bible is the most amazing book ever. I know that's somewhat of an understatement. I have discovered new meanings, depth and 'wholeness', never before seen.
I have wondered if this is because I have fellow Christians to tell me what it means, people of greater intellect than me and I question whether it is possible to over analyse it.
So I pray that God will put us on the right track and give us the eyes and ears and words to study the Bible according to His will.

I would not say it is a question of intellect but more that as we have spent time considering the bible account deeply and recount it in turn.

This means we have had to read the story thoroughly and that has thrown up a lot of extra detail that can get missed in the normal course of events.

Also the discussions after each tale have added a deeper dimension; even if we sometimes do not see everything eye to eye.

I trust you all have a good time tomorrow evening and that Derek's summary will be available in some form as I shall miss that!

Sorry I missed it on Friday. I've got poorly little people here :(
How did it go ?

Hope the little people are better.

We finished Genesis but didn't get into the summary - I will do that this week instead :o)

i have learned God can bless you if

you take your time and don't crash around trying to do the right thing or make things happen

you have a good attitude whatever your circumstances, and live as though God has put you in those circumstances. Don't blame (or hold responsible)the people around you. And i wonder how far we should go in trying to change our circumstances.

Go with your inner man!

I'm sure you will see a change in my lifestyle and behaviour very shortly that will mirror this profound learning.

I think i've also been learning to relax at church in the pub. I think it offers an opportunity to consider what church is and is for, (again) and i think it's teaching me about worship through living. i think it gives you a different expectation of hearing from God, how he speaks and over what timescale and what meeting with him is like. How funny that going to the roebuck has taught me the same stuff that learning about Abraham has. And it (church in the pub) has given me a different understanding of what christians are like and how they can help each other. Overall it has been very refreshing and has begun to help me see a similarity between the me i see in church and the me i see outside church; and more importantly the God i am told about in church and the God that is with me. Which has made me very happy and is quite a big deal. But it does also mean i have to smile more and get on with the washing up instead of waiting to become a better christian before i can begin a respectable ministry of washing filthy beggers or something. I'm sure there's a joke in there for you bob.

We have loved it very much and think it is the right thing to do. We would like to encourage you all to carry on for a long time and not worry about seeing things change immediately.

Mrs Anonymous will not be there tomorrow either as she has to go somewhere for a cup of tea and a chat :)
